Club History

The Old Rutlishians' Rugby Club was formed in 1923 as part of the Old Boys Association of Rutlish School, which was set up in 1906. Originally ex pupils joined, but for 25 years it has been open for all. We run 3 Senior sides & we run a highly successful Youth section for Junior & Mini rugby - including 3-4 year olds!

The club has played at its ground in Poplar Road, Merton Park, London for over eighty years.

Old Ruts was the first club in the area to form a Minis section back in 1991 and has gone on from strenght to strength since. Now fielding sucessful yet still open and friendly teams in all junior age groups from U7 up to U17s.  Our Youth sides play in Surrey Under 17s to Under 13s league and friendly matches further afield. Our Minis play fixtures in around Surrey and Middlesex with a tour to Somerset in the Spring.

The top two senior teams play in the Surrey Division 2 (First XV) and Surrey Conference  (Second XV).

Our Lynx/ 3rd XV is playing in the Surrey Foundation league this season.
