Under 12s Win at Camberley and team news of the weekend
20 October 2011
Congratulations go to Simon Englefield’s blue and gold U12A army who stormed through the Camberley Festival on Sunday winning all 5 matches and the Cup!
With several regulars unavailable and a whole B squad also playing at the Cranleigh Festival it just shows the strength in depth that we now have at this age group! Wins against Reading Abbey, Haslemere, Camberley, Dorking and finally a previously all conquering Sutton & Epsom side meant a 100% record and the trophy!
The B’s did a great job at Cranleigh in winning one of their 3 matches with a squad that was almost exclusively full of players who have just taken the game up, great effort lads….
The U11’s also sent a squad with many new players to the Cranleigh Festival and competed really well with 2 narrow defeats, I more painful and a draw….plenty of positives for the future though!
Sutton & Epsom too strong for 14’s and 15’s
Not such good news as the U14A’s and U15’s both lost their first league matches of the season, both against Sutton & Epsom.
The 15’s put up a great fighting performance in their Division 3 fixture losing a great match
46 – 22, the pace and power of the S & E wingers finally proving just too much. Their was plenty of good stuff though to work on and plenty of grounds for optimism.
It was a different story for the U14A’s who were thumped 45 – 5 by an impressive S & E team who just had too much speed and power throughout the team in their Division 2 clash.
It was the same story as the start of last season for Ruts but hopefully they can bounce back and learn to become a team that is much to harder to beat than was the case on Sunday.
The Under 16’s continued their excellent start to the season with a 38 – 0 win in a friendly over in West London at Wasps – that’s 3 matches so far, almost 200 points scored and still not a point conceded!
And finally all 3 senior teams won on Saturday, the 1st XV beating Bexley to go through to next round of the National Vase.
